DAYS LIKE THESE... THESE ARE THE WANDER DAYS...
BillyGoat was born in Northern Ireland.
Not in a boardroom. Not from a marketing meeting. And definitely not because somebody decided the world needed another outdoor clothing brand.
It started with getting outside.
Heading for the mountains and hills with boots in the car. Chasing the last bit of daylight along the coast. Camping trips, muddy trails, paddleboards, bikes, beaches and freezing dips in the sea at Helens Bay, that seemed like a much better idea before getting in.
It was weekends spent exploring Northern Ireland and realising that some of the best adventures were already sitting right on our doorstep.
And somewhere in the valleys, between the sea and the mountains, with Molly the Springer by my side, BillyGoat began.
IT STARTED WITH A SIMPLE IDEA
Adventure doesn't need to be extreme.
You don't need to climb Everest.
You don't need to disappear into the wilderness for six months.
And you definitely don't need to look like you've just walked out of an expedition catalogue.
Sometimes adventure is simply deciding to go.
Taking the dog for a walk and ending up three miles further than planned.
Throwing a paddleboard on the roof of the car because the weather looks half decent.
Heading into the mountains when the forecast says sunshine and discovering, approximately seventeen minutes later, that the forecast was lying.
It's standing on the coast with the wind trying to steal your hat.
It's getting absolutely soaked and carrying on anyway.
It's muddy trainers, sandy cars, wet towels, cold hands, tired legs and that brilliant feeling you get when you finally sit down afterwards.
That's my kind of adventure.
And that's what BillyGoat was created to celebrate.
WHY BILLYGOAT?
The more I thought about the kind of brand I wanted to build, the more the name made sense.
A goat doesn't need much encouragement to explore.
Give it a mountain and it'll climb it.
Give it a path and it'll probably ignore it.
Give it somewhere it's not supposed to be and, somehow, it'll find a way up there.
There's something about that attitude I like.
Curious. Independent. Hardy. Slightly stubborn. Always wandering.
That's the BillyGoat spirit.
I'm not interested in telling people what an adventurer should look like.
You don't need to be an athlete.
You don't need expensive equipment.
You don't need to break records.
You just need that little bit of curiosity that makes you wonder:

INSPIRED BY NORTHERN IRELAND
Northern Ireland isn't just where BillyGoat comes from.
It's part of it's DNA.
The mountains, forests, lakes and coastline that surround us helped shape what the brand represents.
The Mournes on a clear morning.
The Atlantic rolling into the North Coast.
Forest trails at Tollymore covered in autumn leaves.
Quiet country roads disappearing between green fields or dark hedges.
Summer evenings on Benone beach that make you want to stay outside just a little longer.
And winter mornings at Portavogie that make you seriously question your decision to leave the house.
I know our weather isn't always perfect.
Actually, that's putting it politely.
But maybe that's part of the reason I love the outdoors so much.
Around here, you don't wait for perfect conditions.
You get your gear on and go anyway.

BillyGoat Outdoor Adventure Wear was created to make clothing that fits naturally into that lifestyle.
Clothes that feel just as at home around a campfire as they do grabbing coffee on a Sunday morning.

BillyGoat has never been about taking ourselves too seriously.
Adventure should be fun.
Sometimes you'll reach the summit.
Sometimes you'll take the wrong turn.
Sometimes you'll discover an incredible hidden beach.
And sometimes you'll spend twenty minutes trying to light a camping stove while everybody else offers completely useless advice.
That's all part of it.
The scratches, the mud, the rain, the wrong turns and the stories you tell afterwards.
Those are usually the bits you remember.
WHERE WILL YOURS TAKE YOU?
BillyGoat might have started among the mountains and coastline of Northern Ireland, but where it goes next is up to the people wearing it.
Maybe that's hiking through the hills.
Camping beside a lake.
Paddleboarding along the coast.
Running your local trail.
Exploring somewhere completely new.
Or simply taking the long way home because the sun is shining and you're in no hurry.
You don't need a huge expedition.
You don't always need a plan.
Sometimes you just need to open the door and see where the day takes you.
Get outside.
Wander further.
Get a little lost.
Find your adventure.
Because sometimes the best days begin without much of a plan and my mama told me there'd be days like this.
